Your elbows need to be level with the desktop and your feet planted firmly on the ground. 2. Make sure you have a chair that has good lower back support. Sit fully back in your chair and adjust the seat back for optimum lumbar support. If the chair is lacking the support, then extra support, like a lumbar roll may be required. 3. If your chair has a tilt feature, set it so the legs are supported and there is no pressure on the area behind the knees. The seat pan would usually sit level or slightly forward to achieve this. 4. Your arms should be at 90 degrees from your elbow to your wrists 5. Your wrists and forearms shouldn’t press against any desk edge. If possible, use a mouse pad or wrist rest (refer to page 32) 6. The top of the screen should be at eyebrow level and should be angled slightly up for easier viewing. Suggested that the screen/s should be between d45cm and 60cm from your eyes. 7. When working with paper documents, an angled document holder can be placed between the keyboard and the monitor (refer to page 33). Standing at your adjustable desk: 8 . The correct height for standing at your height adjustable desk will have your forearms at approximately 90° from your elbows. Your wrists and hands should be resting comfortably on the keyboard. 9. The top of the screen should still be at eyebrow level and tilted slightly up. A height adjustable monitor arm may be required to achieve this. Ensure the monitors are still about arm’s length from your eyes. 10. Don’t overdo it! The general consensus, is to stand for at least 2 hours a day. Try standing for 8 minutes every half an hour, or 15 minutes every hour. As you get used to this gradually increase the length of time you stand until you are standing for half of the day.
